MAKKAH: Saudi Interior Minister and Chairman of the Supreme Hajj Committee Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Naif attended a ceremony showcasing security measures aimed at ensuring the safety of worshippers taking part in this year’s annual pilgrimage.

The event, organized and carried out by the Hajj security forces, was also attended by Madinah Deputy Gov. Prince Saud bin Khalid Al-Faisal, and a number of senior officials.

In a speech, Lt. Gen. Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Basami, the director of public security and head of the Hajj security committee, said security forces would be operating in Makkah, Madinah, other holy sites, ports, and on all roads leading to Hajj areas.

Prince Abdulaziz saw personnel demonstrate how they would deal with a number of possible security scenarios and watched a parade of special and armored vehicles, and airborne support.
